Myanmar Consul General Attends the Lancang-Mekong Countries Women’s Exchange Event 2026

Daw Khaing Su Linn, Consul General of the Myanmar Consulate General in Nanning, attended and delivered a speech at the Lancang-Mekong Countries Women’s Exchange Event 2026, held at the GuangYueZun Wuxiang Hotel on March 24, 2026.

During her speech, the Consul General emphasized the crucial role of women in regional socio-economic development. She urged member states to unite women’s capabilities to build regional resilience and overcome challenges. She highlighted three main priorities: enhancing the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs and expanding cross-border trade; ensuring equal access to digital technology and STEM education for women and girls, and promoting women’s leadership in the sustainable environmental management of the Lancang-Mekong river basin. Furthermore, she stated that by combining the strengths of women, we can build a peaceful and prosperous future together.

The event was held under the theme “Gathering Women’s Strength for a Shared Future.” It was attended by Ms. Hu Jingbo, President of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Women’s Federation, Ms. Pan Yan, Vice President of the Federation, a Myanmar delegation led by Daw Myat Myat Oo, Secretary of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, Ms. Thoeun Sarkmarkna, Director of the Economic Development Department under the Ministry of Women’s Affairs of Cambodia, Dr. Ninpaseuth Xayaphonesy, Director General of the Women’s Development Department under the Lao Women’s Union, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van, President of the Lang Son Women’s Union of Vietnam, and Dr. Nisachol Thaithong, Research Officer and Lecturer at the China-ASEAN Research Institute representing Thailand, along with Nanning-based Consuls General, diplomats, and Chinese women entrepreneurs.
