Prime Minister Welcomes Singaporean Prime Minister and party


At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar Lt-Gen Soe Win, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Mr Lee Hsien Loong and party arrived here on an officials visit by special aircraft this afternoon.
The Singaporean Prime Minister and party were welcomed at Yangon International Airport by Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win, Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe, Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win, Deputy Minister for Education Brig-Gen Aung Myo Min, Singaporean Ambassador Mr Thambynathan Jasudasen and embassy staff, Myanmar Ambassador U Hla Than, Director-General Thura U Aung Htet of the Protocol Department and officials.
The Singaporean Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr George Yeo, Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Mr Peter Ho, and other high ranking officials.
Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and party extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister of the Singapore and his entourage on their arrival at the airport.
Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and the Visiting Singaporean Prime Minister, from the dais, took the salute of the Guard of Honour at the airport. Meanwhile, the State Band played the national anthems of the two countries.
Afterwards, the two Prime Ministers inspected the Guard of Honour. Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win cordially greeted the members of the Singaporean delegation. The Singaporean Prime Minister cordially greeted Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and party, the Singaporean Ambassador and members of the Singaporean mission in Yangon.
Later, the visiting Prime Minister and party left for Sedona Hotel where they will spend overnight.
