President U Thein Sein attends 4th ASEAN-UN Summit

 

NAY PYI TAW, 21 Nov - President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Thein Sein attended the Fourth ASEAN-UN Summit at Nusantara-3 Hall in Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) in Bali of Indonesia on 19 November.

It was also attended by King of Brunei Darussalam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Republic of Indonesia Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Prime Minister of Lao People's Democratic Republic Mr Thongsing Thammavong, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Hj Abd Razak, Philippine President Mr Benigno Aquino, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Thailand Ms Yingluck Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Nguyen Tan Dung, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and ASEAN Secretary General Dr Surin Pitsuwan.

ASEAN Alternate Chairman Indonesian President Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and UN Secretary-General Ben Ki-moon made speeches. After discussing future prospects and reviewing ASEAN-UN relations, President U Thein Sein and the attendees agreed joint declaration on Comprehensive Partnership between ASEAN and the UN. The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
