NAY PYI TAW, 20 May - Hearing continues for third day today into the cases of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Daw Khin Khin Win, Ma Win Ma Ma and American citizen Mr. John William Yettaw.

The trial started at 10.10 am and adjourned at 12.15 pm.

The Protocol Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked permission to allow 29 diplomats from the foreign embassies to the Union of Myanmar and News and Periodicals Enterprise under the Ministry of Information, five member correspondents of Myanmar Foreign Correspondents Club and five editorial staff of local journals and magazines to observe the trial of the Yangon North District Court that was hearing the criminal case Nos. 47/2009, 48/2009 and 49/2009. The Yangon North District Court allowed them to observe the trial with the restrictions: not to bring lethal weapons into the court; not to enter the places except the designated places; and not to converse with the defendants at the trial, not to make recording and not to take photos and shoot video features according to section 352 of the Criminal Code and section 48 (1) of the Court Manual.

At 1.15 pm, Ambassadors, Chargés d'Affaires and diplomats of the embassies of Australia, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, the People's Republic of China, Egypt, France, Germany, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Nepal, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Singapore, Thailand, Britain, the United States of America, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme totalling 29, five member correspondents of MFCC and five editorial staff of the local journals and magazines observed the trial of the Yangon North District Court where the judges were hearing the submission of plaintiff Commander of Bahan Township Police Force Police Captain Tin Zaw Tun.

From 2.15 pm to 2.40 pm, the diplomats from the Republic of Singapore, the Russian Federation and Thailand met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at the officers' housing of the Myanmar Correctional Department.

At the meeting, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi told the diplomats that she was in good health. She added that officials provided her with accommodation for her convenience. With regard to the intrusion of Mr. John William Yettaw who secretly entered the compound of her house, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said that she helped him on the humanitarian grounds and action will be taken against Mr. John William Yettaw under the law.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is being accommodated at the officers' housing of the Myanmar Correctional Department. The chief medical officer and doctors of the Myanmar Correctional Department are closely providing health care to her daily. This morning, two senior general practitioners and one heart specialist of Yangon General Hospital in addition to doctors of the MCD gave health care to her. With regard to the case of American citizen Mr. John William Yettaw who entered the compound of the house of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from 3 to 5 May, the court continued questioning the four persons including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
