Senior General Than Shwe sees off Prime Minister
General Thein Sein on departure for Laos to attend Third GMS Summit

Senior General Than Shwe saw off Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar
General Thein Sein at Nay Pyi Taw airport at 10 am today. At the invitation
of Mr Bouasone Bo-uphavanh, Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic
Republic, Prime Minister General Thein Sein left here for Vientiane,
Lao People's Democratic Republic by special flight to attend the Third
Greater Mekong Sub-region Summit (GMS Summit) to be held from 30 to
31 March 2008.
Together with the Senior General at the airport were Vice-Chairman of
the State Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of
Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Maung
Aye, member of SPDC General Thura Shwe Mann of the Ministry of Defence,
Secretary-1 of SPDC Lt-Gen Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo, members of
SPDC Lt-Gen Maung Bo, Lt-Gen Ye Myint, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and Lt-Gen Aung
Htwe of Ministry of Defence, Lt-Gen Myint Hlaing, Maj-Gen Tha Aye and
Maj-Gen Khin Zaw of the Ministry of Defence, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw
Command Maj-Gen Wai Lwin, senior military officers, Director-General
of SPDC Office Col Kyaw Kyaw Win and departmental officials and Charge
d' Affaires ai Mr Thongkhoun Sengphachan of the embassy of the LPDR
and officials.
Prime Minister General Thein Sein was accompanied by Minister for Foreign
Affairs U Nyan Win, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development
U Soe Tha and Director-General of Government's Office Col Thant Shin
and departmental heads and officials.
