Myanmar Signed Visa Waiver Agreement with Thailand

On 28 July Myanmar and Thailand signed a short-stay visa waiver agreement at a ceremony that took place in Chiang Mai of Thailand. The agreement was signed by H.E. U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and H.E. General Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Thailand.

Under the agreement citizens from Myanmar or Thailand holding ordinary passports can enter, pass through, and stay in each other’s country for 14 days without a visa. But the visa waiver applies to those who travel by air. The visa exemption agreement will take effect on 11 August, 2015.
